Dresden Traffic Museum Secures Future at Johanneum

After months of negotiations, the Dresden Traffic Museum has secured its future at its current location on the Neumarkt. The city council has agreed to a perpetual usufruct contract for the next 30 years, ensuring the museum's continued stay at the Johanneum.

The museum, which has been housed in the Johanneum for almost 70 years, was facing an uncertain future due to the expiration of the rental agreements by the end of 2025. However, the city of Dresden has stepped up to take over all obligations for the property.

Culture Mayor Annekatrin Klepsch expressed her satisfaction with the result of the negotiations. She stated that the state capital of Dresden has taken responsibility for the Traffic Museum and will provide an annual subsidy of 80,000 euros to help maintain the museum. The Dresden city administration responsible for urban planning parts has planned an annual subsidy of approximately 1.6 million euros.

The Free State of Saxony, the owner of the property, also agreed to an extension under certain conditions. The city of Dresden will provide the necessary funds for the renovation and maintenance of the building.

The long-term solution found for the Dresden Traffic Museum involves the museum continuing to use the Johanneum. This is good news for the museum's visitors, as the museum has been a popular family destination for many years.

Klepsch is pleased with the outcome and stated that the Dresden Traffic Museum's future at the Johanneum is secured. She expressed her gratitude to all parties involved in the negotiations and expressed her excitement for the museum's future.

With the future of the museum now secured, visitors can look forward to many more years of exploration and learning at the Dresden Traffic Museum. The museum's unique collection of transport-related exhibits is sure to continue to delight and educate visitors for years to come.
