The Rheingau Music Festival, a popular multi-day event that took place along the Rhine river in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, concluded on September 6, 2022. With a total of 154 concerts held at 26 venues, the festival attracted over 130,000 visitors, as reported by the organisers.
The festival, which is mainly financed by sponsorship, ticket sales, and the support association, featured performances by approximately 3,200 artists from around the world. This year's festival summer, as it was called, saw concerts on both sides of the Rhine, making it a truly regional event.
The closing concert took place at Kloster Eberbach in Eltville, a historic and picturesque location that added to the festival's charm. The organisers anticipated an occupancy rate of over 90% for this year's festival summer, a testament to its popularity.
The state subsidy for the festival was 25,000 euros, while the total costs amounted to eight million euros. Despite the significant costs, the festival was able to run smoothly, thanks to its successful financing model.
Looking ahead, the organisers have announced the dates for the Rheingau Music Festival 2026. It will run from June 20 to September 5, 2026. However, the names of the artists have not been publicly disclosed yet.
