Get your groove on in the desert! The Rise Festival, originally just a dazzling display of biodegradable lanterns, is now a 3-day musical celebration. The event, taking place October 3-5 in Jean Dry Lake Bed (40 miles south of Vegas), marks its 11th year – if you count the 2024 break when they hired new CEO David Oehm from Life is Beautiful[3].

This year, it's more than just a pretty lights show. Headlining the event are alt-dance group Rüfüs du Sol on Friday, superstar DJ Calvin Harris on Saturday, and guitar legend John Mayer on Sunday[1]. Explore the unique sounds of Ben Böhmer, Goose, Elderbrook, LP Giobbi, Oliver Heldens, Emmit Fenn, RY X, Patrick Watson, Coco & Breezy, RIVO, Forester, Eduardo Castillo, Carrie Keller, and City of the Sun[1]. Whether you're into electronic, indie, folk, or experimental genres, there's something for everyone[3].

Tickets and packages are available starting May 16th on the festival's website[1].

Rockin' in the Pearl

The Sex Pistols, minus original frontman Johnny Rotten, are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a tour ending at the Palms casino's Pearl venue on October 17[2]. Expect a complete performance of their iconic album, "Never Mind the Bollocks"[2].

Apparently, John Lydon (aka Rotten) is still alive, but not a part of this reunion. Instead, they brought in Frank Carter, former lead singer of British hardcore punk band Gallows[2]. Unsurprisingly, Lydon isn't thrilled with his former bandmates' choice – calling it "malicious in its intent" and "karaoke"[2].

It's a far cry from the original Sex Pistols, and Lydon's long-standing feud with the band deepened in 2021 when he attempted to block the use of their music in the FX series "Pistol[2]."

Tickets for the Palms show go on sale May 16th at 10 a.m. at SexPistolsFeaturingFrankCarter.com[2].
