Musician Mark Reilly, originator of the British group Matt Bianco, discusses his endeavor to modernize jazz-Latin heritage and further details.

Matt Bianco, the British band known for its unique blend of Jazz, Latin, sixties' spy film music, and pop elements, is set to perform in Mumbai on September 7, 2025, at Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA, Nariman Point. This comeback marks the band's long and storied history, which dates back to the 1980s.

The band, originally founded by Mark Reilly, initially consisted of Danny White and Basia Trzetrzelewska. In 1984, they released their debut album, 'Whose Side Are You On?', which included the hit song Get Out of Your Lazy Bed. Mark Reilly wrote most of the songs on the album and took lead vocals on most tracks, with Basia providing backing harmonies and occasional lead vocals.

After the album's success, the band covered Yeh-Yeh, a 1965 song originally recorded by Georgie Fame, following their split. In 1988, Mark Reilly brought in keyboardist Mark Fisher as his collaborator, leading to the release of the album 'Indigo'. This collaboration resulted in the super hit Don't Blame It on That Girl, a collaboration with Gloria Estefan's husband Emilio.

The band's double album 'Masquerader', featuring the singles Playing With Dynamite and Deep Space, was released in an undisclosed year. However, tragedy struck in December 2016 when Mark Fisher passed away from cancer.

In 2019, Matt Bianco released the album 'Gravity', featuring a big band sound. This was followed by 'The Essential Matt Bianco. Re-imagined, Re-loved', a double album released in June 2022.

Basia, White, and Reilly reunited in 2003 to create the album 'Matt's Mood'. This album consisted of a mix of ballads and danceable tracks. Elisabeth Antwi, a backing vocalist, will perform alongside Mark Reilly, the founder and vocalist of Matt Bianco, at their Mumbai show in 2025.

Matt Bianco's music has always been a testament to their unique style and creativity. Their upcoming album, set to be released on September 19, 2025, promises to continue this tradition. Don't miss the opportunity to witness this iconic band live in Mumbai!
