NBA star Jeremy Lin calls it quits on his fiery basketball journey of 2012 and beyond
Jeremy Lin Announces Retirement from Basketball at Age 37
Jeremy Lin, the former NBA player who gained fame during the "Linsanity" period, announced his retirement from basketball on Saturday. Lin, who turned 37, played in the NBA from 2010 to 2019, donning the jersey of eight different teams.
During his career, Lin's most notable achievement came during the 2011-2012 season with the New York Knicks. This season marked the beginning of "Linsanity", a period of exceptional performance that lasted for 11 games. The term "Linsanity" refers to the fan frenzy that surrounded Lin's play during this time.
During the "Linsanity" period, Lin averaged an impressive 23.9 points and 9.2 assists per game. He helped the Knicks win nine out of the 11 games, including a notable performance against the Los Angeles Lakers where he scored 38 points. Kobe Bryant was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers during this game.
One of Lin's most memorable performances during "Linsanity" was scoring 38 points against the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant, a legendary player himself, was on the opposing team during this game.
After the 2011-2012 season, Lin's performance in subsequent seasons was less consistent. He changed teams frequently from season to season after the 2012-2013 season. Lin played as a point guard or shooting guard in the NBA from 2010 to 2019.
In 2019, Lin was a member of the Toronto Raptors, who won the NBA championship that year. However, he did not play for any NBA team during the 2019-2019 season. After winning the NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors, he signed with the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) for the 2019-2020 season.
In an Instagram post announcing his retirement, Lin expressed that he felt fully alive every time he touched a basketball. He will be remembered for his exceptional play during the "Linsanity" period and his significant contributions to the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors.
Lin's career in the NBA averaged 11.6 points and 4.3 assists per game. Despite the ups and downs, his impact on the game of basketball, especially during the "Linsanity" period, will not be forgotten.
