In the world of sports, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is making history. The 2025 season has seen a surge in attendance and viewership, marking a significant milestone for the league.

Leading the charge is Sky's Angel Reese, who made WNBA history in her injury return against the Storm. Meanwhile, the WNBA's broadcasts on ABC and ESPN are experiencing a boost, with ABC's WNBA broadcasts up 20% year-over-year, and ESPN up 7%.

The Golden State Valkyries have been a crowd favourite in their inaugural season, selling out all 16 home games. This has brought in a total of 289,024 fans, a testament to the Valkyries' popularity.

Borussia Dortmund, from the world of football, also recorded the highest number of spectators at home games in 2025, with a peak attendance of 81,365 fans at the Signal Iduna Park. However, the WNBA's achievements in attendance this season are truly remarkable.

The WNBA has broken its all-time regular-season attendance record in 2025, a feat achieved in 30 fewer games than it took in 2002. The Dallas Wings game against the Indiana Fever in July brought in 2.1 million viewers on ABC, up 69% from last year's ABC average.

The All-Star Game events set historic viewing highs across ESPN, ABC, and Disney+. The Washington Mystics will host the Indiana Fever at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena on Sept. 7, a venue that seats around 14,000, more than double the capacity of the team's usual home.

The Las Vegas Aces have scheduled three September home games at T-Mobile Arena, which holds about 18,000 fans. The New York Liberty have seen an increase of 29% in their average attendance compared to the previous season, and have exceeded their 2024 full-season attendance by nearly 25,000 fans despite playing three fewer games so far.

As of Thursday, 2,501,609 fans had attended WNBA games in the 2025 season. The WNBA is approaching the milestone of drawing more than 3 million fans in a single season for the first time. The Indiana Fever have drawn more than 300,000 fans through 18 home games in the 2025 season.

The Dallas Wings hosted a sellout crowd of 20,409 at American Airlines Center in July, setting a record for the largest WNBA crowd in Texas history. The WNBA's success this season is a clear indication of the growing interest and support for women's basketball.

In conclusion, the WNBA's 2025 season has been one of record-breaking attendances and viewership. The league's continued growth and success is a testament to the talent, dedication, and passion of its players, and the ever-increasing support from fans around the world.
