Nest Audio Smart Speakers Now Host Apple Music

In a move that will delight Apple enthusiasts, Google has announced support for Apple Music on its Nest Audio smart speakers, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Mini. This development is particularly beneficial for those already invested in the Apple services ecosystem who prefer Google's smart speakers.

Previously, Apple Music users had to rely on Bluetooth to stream music to their Nest Audio speaker, which was inconvenient for hands-free use. However, with this new compatibility, users can now link their Apple Music account in the Google Home app and play their favourite tunes with ease.

To make the most of this feature, users simply need to say, "Hey Google, play music on all my speakers." This command will play Apple Music across all compatible devices.

The improved compatibility makes the Nest Audio a more attractive option for Apple One subscribers looking for a new smart speaker, especially in anticipation of the launch of Fitness+. As it turns out, the developer of Fitness+, an Apple fitness subscription service integrated with Apple devices, is Apple Inc. Fitness+ offers voice and audio features that can connect with smart speakers like Nest Audio for workout guidance and music.

With Apple Music selected as the primary service, Google Assistant will play liked songs from Apple Music with prompts like "Hey Google, play my songs" and "Hey Google, play my library." Users can also search Apple Music's library and play tunes by artist, song, or playlist using the built-in Google Assistant.

If users want Google to pull songs and albums from Apple Music instead of other services like Spotify, they need to set Apple Music as their default music streaming service. This can be done within the Google Home app settings.

With this exciting development, Apple Music can now be linked to multiple Google Assistant-enabled devices using Google's multi-room control feature in the Google Home app. This means users can enjoy their favourite Apple Music playlists in multiple rooms around their home.

This integration is set to enhance the user experience for Apple Music subscribers who also use Google's smart speakers, making their lives a little easier and their music a little more accessible.
