The highly anticipated third installment of Rian Johnson's crime epic, "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," is set to make its European premiere on October 8 as the opening film of the London Film Festival.

The series, which will be available on Netflix, promises a departure from the lavish settings of the previous installments, as it is set in an isolated church community. This change in setting is accompanied by a gothic and menacing tone, a stark contrast to the charm and humor of the first two films.

The plot revolves around the young priest Jud Duplenticy, portrayed by Josh O'Connor, who finds himself embroiled in a mysterious and seemingly impossible murder. The police chief Geraldine Scott, played by Mila Kunis, calls in the eccentric detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, to solve "a puzzle that seems to defy all logic."

Jeremy Renner, aged 54, plays the town doctor Nat Sharp, while Josh Brolin, aged 57, portrays the charismatic Monsignor Jefferson Wicks. Kerry Washington, aged 48, takes on the role of the tense lawyer Vera Draven, and Glenn Close, aged 78, plays the pious churchgoer Martha Delacroix.

The first teaser trailer indicates that Benoit Blanc is dealing with the darkest case of his career, and the new trailer suggests a darker and more menacing tone for the series compared to the previous installments.

The film has already premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it will have a limited theater release on November 27, 2025. The film will then be available on Netflix on December 12, 2025.

Not everything is well in the church community, implying a murder or mystery at its core. The series is set to be a thrilling and suspenseful addition to the Knives Out franchise, promising to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
