Netherlands limited to 136 runs by Bangladesh
In a thrilling encounter at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Taskin Ahmed was the star performer for Bangladesh as they restricted the Netherlands to 136 for 8.
The Dutch openers started off strongly, scoring 25 runs in the first three overs without losing a wicket. However, the breakthrough came in the fourth over, courtesy of Taskin Ahmed. He took a wicket with the first ball of his bowling spell and then struck again with the first ball of his second over, dismissing two batsmen in consecutive deliveries.
Taskin Ahmed finished the match with an impressive 4 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs. His performance was instrumental in curtailing the Netherlands' innings, particularly after a promising start.
Saif Hassan, playing his first match for Bangladesh in two years, also made an impact with the ball. He picked up two wickets in his very first over, conceding 18 runs in the process. Mustafizur Rahman also chipped in with a wicket, giving away 19 runs in his four overs.
Mehidy Hasan, though he didn't claim any wickets, was economical, conceding only 21 runs in his four overs. Shoriful Islam, however, was slightly more expensive, conceding 12 runs in the final over of the match.
The Netherlands' top scorer was Max O'Dowd, who made 23 runs, while Teja Nidamanuru contributed 26 runs. Scott Edwards scored 16 runs, and Shariz Ahmad made 15 runs.
The Dutch team lost a wicket off the last ball, ending their innings at 136 for 8. This loss continues the trend in Sylhet, where no team has won after posting a lower total in the first innings.
Bangladesh will look to build on this strong bowling performance when they bat, aiming to secure a victory in this crucial match.
