Neuländersee's brand-new canine playground is now prepared for furry friends!
The Bezirksamt Harburg (Harburg District Office) has established a new dog exercise area at the Neuländer gravel pit in Harburg. The exercise area, covering 3000 square meters, is located in the front part of the green facility, near a popular "walk around the lake".
Contrary to some assumptions, the dog exercise area is not specified as being part of the entire green facility. Instead, it stands as a separate entity, providing a designated space for canine activities. The surrounding tree cover offers shade during the summer months, enhancing the comfort of park visitors and their dogs.
The new dog sports facility is not located within the popular sunbathing area at the Neuländer Lake. This means that both facilities coexist harmoniously, catering to the needs of different park visitors. The sunbathing area remains fully available for park visitors who prefer a more tranquil environment.
The exercise area has been fenced off with a 1.40 meter high double-stick fence to ensure the safety and containment of dogs. During the breeding and nesting season, the dog exercise area allows dogs to move freely without disturbing wildlife, ensuring a balance between recreation and conservation.
The new dog exercise area is open for dogs that are not deemed dangerous under the Hamburg Law on the Keeping and Leading of Dogs. Three benches have been set up in the exercise area, inviting dog owners to stay and relax while their pets play. Dogs are allowed to run without a leash on the new exercise area, providing them with the freedom to enjoy their playtime.
This new dog exercise area is significant as it addresses a supply gap in eastern Harburg, according to the district office. The opening of this facility is sure to be welcomed by dog owners in the area, providing them with a dedicated space for their pets to exercise and play.
