New appointment announced: Kleine-Brockhoff assumes role as Director of the DGAP

Thomas Kleine-Brockhoff Appointed as New Director of German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP)

Thomas Kleine-Brockhoff, a seasoned expert in foreign and security policy, has been appointed as the new Director of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), effective August 15. In his new role, he will report directly to DGAP President Thomas Enders.

Kleine-Brockhoff's extensive experience in the field will undoubtedly be an asset to DGAP. Prior to his appointment, he served as Guido Goldman Distinguished Scholar for Geostrategy at the German Marshall Fund (GMF) in Washington, a position he held for several years. Before that, he was the head of GMF's Berlin office for five years.

Kleine-Brockhoff's career in foreign policy began at DIE ZEIT, where he started as a journalist. Later, he served as bureau chief for DIE ZEIT in Washington. A significant milestone in his career was his service as an advisor to German Federal President Joachim Gauck between 2013 and 2017, a role he left in 2012.

In his new role at DGAP, Kleine-Brockhoff succeeds Guntram Wolff. This appointment marks a new chapter in his illustrious career, and he is eager to bring his expertise to the table to contribute to DGAP's mission.

Kleine-Brockhoff's extensive experience in foreign and security policy will undoubtedly prove invaluable in navigating the complex geopolitical landscape. His tenure at the GMF's leadership team in Washington for a decade, as well as his time as an advisor to the German Federal President, have equipped him with the necessary skills and insights to lead DGAP effectively.

As DGAP's new Director, Kleine-Brockhoff looks forward to working closely with President Thomas Enders and the rest of the team to advance Germany's foreign policy goals and promote international understanding and cooperation.
