The General Customs Directorate has announced that interested parties can apply for positions in the customs service starting from September 1, 2026. This news, transmitted via news aktuell, comes from the Main Customs Office Augsburg, which covers the entire administrative region of Swabia and parts of Upper Bavaria, including the Ingolstadt area.

For those interested in IT, the customs service offers traineeships that provide practical experience in various departments of the training main customs office and at nearby customs offices and customs investigation offices. IT trainees are preferably employed in the field of IT forensics, the digitization of the customs administration, and various project tasks or the maintenance of databases.

The application deadline for these positions is October 15, 2025. Detailed information on the application, recruitment, training, and studies can be found at www.zoll-karriere.de or www.zoll.de.

For trainees in the middle service, a two-year training course is offered, qualifying them to use the professional title "Financial Officer". Trainees in the higher service will undergo a three-year dual study program in administrative informatics, concluding with the academic degree "Bachelor of Science" (B.Sc.; Administrative Informatics). This program is also available for IT trainees in Augsburg.

After completing their training or dual studies, young customs officers can expect to be assigned to various tasks within the customs service. The contact person for training/studies at the Main Customs Office Augsburg is Mr. Bickel, who can be reached at 0821/5012-134 or [email protected].

It's worth noting that more than 1,700 young people began their training in the customs service on September 1, 2025, with 46 of these trainees starting at the Main Customs Office Augsburg.

Press inquiries should be directed to Tim Hagenbusch at 0821 5012 161 or [email protected]. The theoretical parts of the higher service are completed at the Federal Administration Academy in Münster, while those of the middle service are completed at the training centers of the Education and Science Center of the Federal Finance Administration.

The customs service continues to offer training and study places for a secure future in a large federal administration.
