New development in the iconic Baltic Sea resort: construction of modern apartments within a historical edifice

The Rostock Housing Company Wiro is spearheading a significant renovation project at Lortzingstraße 9-10 in the seaside town of Warnemünde. This project involves an apartment building from the 1940s, which, upon completion, will offer eight new rental apartments.

The renovation encompasses various aspects of the building, including the ceilings on the upper floors, the old cellar floor, which will be replaced with a new one, and the attic, which will be developed. The renovation also addresses bathrooms, windows, heating systems, electrical installations, facade, and roof.

Floor plans in the renovation project will be adapted to modern standards, ensuring a comfortable living space for future residents. Dagmar Horning from the municipal housing company is overseeing the project.

The renovation project at Lortzingstraße 9-10 is part of a larger undertaking by Wiro, which has been gradually renovating a block in Warnemünde since 2015. About half of the 174 apartments in the block between Rostock Street, Lortzingstraße, and Lilienthalstraße have already been completed. However, two entrances are still outstanding in the larger renovation project.

Meanwhile, another project by Wiro is underway at Lange Straße 21, Höhe Neuer Markt. The nine-story building, previously renovated in the 1990s, will have its roof renovated by Wiro. The specifics about who will carry out the roof renovation are yet to be disclosed. A photovoltaic system will also be installed during the renovation.

The gutting of the old brick building at Lange Straße 21 began at the start of the month, and the renovation is expected to be completed by early summer 2027. The renovated high-rise building should be ready for occupancy by the same time.

In addition, around 70 million euros will flow into maintenance projects for Wiro in 2025, including the block in Warnemünde and the high-rise at Lange Straße 21, Höhe Neuer Markt. This investment underscores Wiro's commitment to improving living conditions in the region.

Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting renovation projects in Warnemünde.
