In the heart of London, a new piece of street art by the enigmatic Banksy has caused a stir. The graffiti, depicting a judge beating a protester, splattered with blood, is now under protective custody, following an investigation launched by the London police.
This latest artwork, which was quickly removed, does not provide specific details about its intended message. However, many believe the image is symbolic and related to recent mass arrests in the UK capital. Two days ago, around 900 people were arrested during a protest against the ban on Palestine Action.
The real identity of Banksy has been a mystery for a long time. But, a theory that has been circulating for years suggests that the artist's real name is Robin Gunningham. This theory was first proposed by The Mail on Sunday in 2008, and more recently, scientists from Queen Mary University of London have confirmed this theory.
The Sunday Times reported that initially, Gunningham created under the name Robin Banks, which later shortened to Banksy. The artist has neither confirmed nor denied this claim, but they have confirmed the authenticity of their work on their Instagram account.
Another theory suggests that Banksy is Robert Del Naja, one of the founders of the trip-hop group Massive Attack. Proponents of this theory point out that street art has often appeared in places where the group has performed. However, there is no concrete evidence to support this claim.
If the case goes to court, the artist will have to publicly reveal their name. But for now, the artist remains elusive, known by the pseudonym Banksy. Journalists have conducted numerous investigations into Banksy's identity, interviewing the artist's former classmates and friends, but to no avail.
The Daily Telegraph reports that the identity of Banksy may be revealed as a result of the investigation. Only time will tell if the veil of anonymity surrounding the artist will be lifted, or if Banksy will continue to remain a mystery.
