New leadership assumes role in Balingen
In the heart of Germany's Baden-Württemberg region, the Balingen Tax Office, which serves a population of approximately 200,000 residents across eight districts, has welcomed a new leader.
The district encompasses the towns of Albstadt, Balingen, Burladingen, Haigerloch, Hechingen, Meßstetten, Rosenfeld, and Schömberg. The new head of the office is Susanne Karrais, who hails from Horb and holds a law degree from both Bremen and Heidelberg universities.
Susanne Karrais's career in tax administration began with her first professional posting at the Balingen Tax Office. Before her promotion, she served as the deputy head of the Rottweil Tax Office.
Albin Geiger, the previous head of the Balingen Tax Office, retired at the end of May after seven years of dedicated service. During his tenure, the office managed a total tax revenue of approximately 1.28 billion euros in 2024.
The Balingen Tax Office currently employs 283 staff members, and under Albin Geiger's leadership, it became a cornerstone of the region's financial infrastructure.
As Susanne Karrais takes over, she inherits a well-established and efficient office. The Finanzamt Balingen, the predecessor organisation where she previously worked, has undoubtedly prepared her well for this new role.
The Balingen Tax Office looks forward to continued success under its new leadership, as it continues to serve the diverse and thriving communities it represents.
