New model, Citroen Basalt X, debuts in India, available for 12.90 million rupees
The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Citroen unveils its latest offering, the Basalt X. This compact SUV is set to redefine the segment with its plethora of features and advanced technology.
A Tech-Savvy Ride
At the heart of the Basalt X is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, tuned for 108 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. The vehicle comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system also offers voice command capabilities, courtesy of the Cara in-car assistant, which can handle complex tasks related to navigation, service history, route selection, point of interest, and more.
The Basalt X also boasts a 7-inch colour TFT digital display and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option. For those who prefer a more traditional driving experience, a manual gearbox option is available.

The Basalt X offers a high level of comfort and convenience. The dashboard, finished in leatherette, houses a new updated layout. The vehicle comes with automatic climate control, ventilated seats, and ambient lighting. Keyless entry is another standard feature, ensuring a hassle-free entry and exit.

Safety is paramount in the Basalt X. The vehicle is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ESP, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Cruise control and an engine start/stop button are also included for added convenience and safety.

The Basalt X is available in a variety of exterior shades, including the new Garnet Red. The top variant of the vehicle sports a new dual-tone theme in beige and black. An optional 360-degree camera is available for enhanced visibility.
Pricing and Availability
The Basalt X is competitively priced, with the entry-level You variant priced at ₹7.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Plus variant offers both the 1.2 Petrol and 1.2 Petrol Turbo engine options, priced at ₹9.42 lakh and ₹10.82 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. The top spec Max+ variant is available with the 1.2 Petrol Turbo engine option in Manual and Automatic transmissions, priced at ₹11.62 lakh and ₹12.89 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
In a bid to make the Basalt X more accessible, Citroen plans to expand its dealer network from 88 to 150.
