New recruits, totaling 39, commence their customary officer positions at the Main Customs Office Münster, performing their professional oath during the start of their training or academic endeavors.

The Main Customs Office Münster has welcomed 39 new customs officers who recently began their training in the customs administration. On the first day of their service, they were welcomed by Tobias Schreiber, the head of the Main Customs Office Münster.

The deadline for applications for an appointment in the customs administration is set for 15 October 2025, and potential candidates can submit their applications to the Main Customs Office Münster for higher or middle customs service, or to the General Customs Directorate for Administrative Informatics.

Customs officials play a crucial role in ensuring fair competition in the economy, protecting people by monitoring the import and export of goods, contributing to species protection, securing revenues for the state and EU budgets, and performing many other important tasks.

The future customs officers will learn about various areas of the customs administration, including customs revenue collection, inspection service, customs offices, control units, and the fight against illegal work. The training program lasts for two or three years, with the middle service training qualifying for the professional title of "Finance Officer".

In addition to this, the customs administration offers two dual study programs of three years each: one in Customs (LL.B.) and one in Administrative Informatics (B.Sc.). Detailed information on the programs and the customs administration can be found at www.zoll.de. Information on application, appointment, training, and study at the customs administration can be found at www.zoll-karriere.de.

Nationwide, more than 1,700 people began their service with the customs administration on 1 September. The trainees receive comprehensive theoretical and practical training, with the practical phases of the training spent in the trainees' main customs office.

As of now, there are around 48,000 customs officials in Germany. The customs administration will offer training and study places for the next few years.
