Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has reportedly been sold to Liverpool in a deal that breaks the British transfer record.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has reportedly been transferred to Liverpool for a record-breaking sum in British football history.

In a dramatic turn of events, Liverpool have agreed to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in a deal worth a British record fee of approximately 130 million pounds (US$175 million). The Swedish international striker, who guided Newcastle back to the Champions League with a fifth-placed finish last season, has been at the centre of a tense standoff with the club.

The deal, which is for a long-term contract, marks a significant move for both clubs. Isak, who scored 23 league goals last season for Newcastle United, was the hero in their League Cup final victory against Liverpool, securing their first domestic trophy in 70 years.

However, it seems that Isak's time at St. James' Park may be coming to an end. On Saturday, Newcastle signed German international striker Nick Woltemade for a club record fee of up to 69 million pounds, a move that is seen as paving the way for Isak's departure.

The negotiations for Isak's transfer have dominated the Premier League transfer window, with Liverpool making a bid of 110 million pounds for the striker, which was previously rejected by Newcastle. Neither club has responded to a request for comment regarding the deal.

In a statement, Isak accused Newcastle of breaking promises and misleading supporters. He stated that change was in the "best interests of everyone" and confirmed he wanted to leave the club. Eddie Howe, Newcastle's manager, described the situation as a "lose-lose" situation.

During Newcastle's pre-season tour, Isak trained separately due to the standoff, raising speculation about his future at the club. The search results do not specify who led the negotiations for Isak's transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool before he signed the long-term contract.

As the deal nears completion, both clubs are set to undergo significant changes. For Liverpool, the acquisition of Isak could bolster their attack, while for Newcastle, the departure of their star player could signal a new direction under their new management.
