NFL Rookie Liam Anderson '22 Shares Thoughts on His Debut Season
In a moment that marked the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, Liam Anderson, a former defense cornerstone for the Holy Cross Crusaders, has been signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts.
After spending five years at Mount Saint James, Anderson's NFL dreams seemed to be on hold as he was not drafted in the NFL Draft. However, three of his fellow Crusaders' dreams came true, and Anderson's perseverance paid off when he was invited to the Colts' training camp for the upcoming year.
The Colts stood out to Anderson due to their depth-chart potential and a history of retaining undrafted free agents. His hard work during the offseason paid off, as he was invited to the Colts' facility for training and eventually signed a contract.
Anderson agreed to terms with the Colts moments after the draft's conclusion and plans to continue his training at the Colts' facility during the offseason. The 2023 season marked a developmental year for Anderson, who spent most of the season on the Colts' practice squad.
In Week 17 of the 2023 season, Anderson was called up to the active roster for the first time. This was a significant milestone in his career, and it demonstrated the Colts' faith in his abilities. Anderson's performance during the season earned him a reserve/future contract with the Colts after the end of the 2023 regular season.
Anderson considers himself an essential part of the Crusader family despite playing for the Colts. He intends to attend the Crusaders' pro day and spring game, showcasing his commitment to his alma mater.
Ben Lepper '25, the Chief Sports Editor of Holy Cross Football, is another shining example of the Crusaders' success. Lepper is also an ESPN+ Production Assistant & Broadcaster, Tour Guide Coordinator, and Ultimate Frisbee player. His favorite movie is Draft Day, and his favorite song changes weekly.
The Colts had a rough 2022 campaign but have potential for a promising season. With Anderson's addition to the team, fans are optimistic about the future. Anderson's story serves as an inspiration to all Crusaders, demonstrating that with determination and hard work, dreams can come true.
