Nike broadens its swim apparel range with the addition of a swim hijab
Nike has announced the launch of its Nike Victory Swim Collection, a new line designed to cater to a wide range of athletes and invite all women to discover the joy of sport. The collection, which will be available to consumers from February 1, is part of Nike's ongoing efforts to broaden its vision for innovation and accommodate athletes across various backgrounds, body types, and abilities.
Martha Moore, Nike's vice president and creative director, expressed her excitement about the new collection, stating, "Nike is thrilled to inspire more women to see themselves in sport." The collection includes the Nike Victory Full-Coverage Swimsuit, Swim Hijab, Swim Tunic Top, and Swim Leggings, all constructed from warp-knit fabric for lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying comfort.
The Nike Victory Full-Coverage Swimsuit and Swim Tunic Top feature built-in sports bras with perforated cups, offering support and functionality. The Swim Hijab, designed in response to the passionate responses to the Nike Pro Hijab, comes with an integrated mesh pocket that secures hair in place during underwater movement.
The collection also offers UPF 40+ sun protection, ensuring athletes are protected from the sun's harmful rays. This focus on functionality and inclusivity in design aligns with Nike's commitment to accommodating athletes across various backgrounds and abilities.
Nike's women's arm of the business experienced notable growth in its fiscal 2019, and the Nike Victory Swim Collection is an extension of Nike's efforts to reach new customers with performance-focused athletic wear. In line with this, Nike has enlisted WNBA player Alana Beard and NBA player Kevin Love to promote the new yoga apparel line, which was launched in January.
The Nike Swimwear line aims to improve swimwear functionality and cater to underserved athletes. By introducing the Nike Victory Swim Collection, Nike reaffirms its commitment to accommodating athletes across various backgrounds, body types, and abilities, and invites all women to join in the celebration of sport. The collection will be available on nike.com and at select retailers from February 1.
