Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can now access Metroid Fusion.
In a thrilling revival of classic gaming, Nintendo has made the acclaimed 2002 release, "Metroid Fusion," available on the Nintendo Switch through the Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online app. Developed by Nintendo Research & Development 1 (R&D1), this action-packed adventure was not created by Retro Studios, who are responsible for the Metroid Prime series on the GameCube.
Set in a research station orbiting planet SR388, players find themselves in a battle against the X parasite, a menacing creature causing chaos. Samus Aran, the game's protagonist, is saved by a vaccine made from Metroid DNA, the X parasite's natural predator. However, the X parasite can mimic the abilities of what it infects, including Samus herself, creating an unpredictable and challenging gameplay experience.
The creature known as the SA-X, if encountered, may indicate the presence of the X parasite. As the game progresses, players can collect power-ups like the Screw Attack and Wave Beam to help Samus grow stronger. Metroid Fusion offers the classic Metroid gameplay experience, including exploring secret passages and mastering Samus' moves.
To play Metroid Fusion on the Nintendo Switch, players need a Nintendo Account and a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, which is sold separately. This plan also provides access to a selection of Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and SEGA Genesis games, as well as select DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2.
It's important to note that the full version of the game is required to use DLC for that game, which is sold separately. Also, internet access is necessary for the online features of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Terms apply for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, which auto-renews after the initial term unless canceled.
Unfortunately, Metroid Fusion is not available in all countries. So, if you're a fan of the Metroid series or simply enjoy exploring intriguing worlds and battling formidable foes, be sure to check if Metroid Fusion is available in your region before diving into this timeless adventure.
