Nio, the premium electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced the launch of its latest offering, the L90 SUV, aiming to address the inconvenience of accessing the cramped third row in many hybrid or range extender models. The L90 prioritizes space for large SUVs with three rows of seats, offering an effective cabin length of 4,195 mm, 670 liters of cargo space, and a 240-liter Smart Power Frunk - the largest on the Chinese market.

While the L90 shares similar technology with Nio's vehicles, it operates independently as a separate brand, with no significant synergies with other Nio models such as the ES8. The ES8, a more than five-meter-long SUV available as a six or seven-seater, is positioned internally as a premium brand, while the L90 is intended for families and price-sensitive customers.

Nio's new ES8 SUV in China is now available at starting prices of 416,800 yuan (about 58,150 USD) for the full purchase, with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option reducing the initial price to 308,800 yuan (about 43,080 USD). The top Executive Signature version costs 456,800 yuan (63,730 USD) full price or 348,800 yuan (48,660 USD) with BaaS.

In addition to the L90 and ES8, Nio also offers the Firefly, a four-meter-long compact car designed for the entry-level segment. The Firefly uses independent vehicles, with no significant synergies between it and other Nio models.

Notably, Nio addresses range anxiety with its battery swap system. However, the company has not provided any information on charging power for the L90. The outgoing second generation ES8 is sold in China at prices between 498,000 and 598,000 yuan (59,400 to 71,300 euros).

With these new offerings, Nio continues to expand its product portfolio, catering to different segments of the market while maintaining its focus on providing spacious, efficient, and premium electric vehicles.
