"Nitro Greenlights New Installments for 'The History Explorers'"
Nitro, a leading production company, is shaking up the television landscape with their new season of the docu-series "Wigald and Eko - The History Hunters 2.0". The show, which first premiered on History in 2016, has been a staple on Nitro's channel since 2020.
In this new season, viewers can expect the duo of Wigald Boning and Eko Fresh to visit mysterious places where history was made. The production company responsible for this new version is Seven.One Studios, which has already collaborated with the main actors for NITRO's program "Die Geschichtsjäger 2.0".
Nitro has decided to continue the format with new episodes and the addition of rapper Eko Fresh, replacing Friedrich "Fritz" Meinecke. The series consists of six half-hour episodes and will air every Saturday at 7:10 PM, starting from September 27, 2024.
Interestingly, the new Saturday show on RTL, "Drei gegen Einen - Die Show der Champions", will have a different lineup. Jan Köppen will replace Elton, who will still have a role at the station, as he will team up with Stefan Raab for "Die Unzerquizbaren" this winter.
Oliver Schablitzki, Executive Vice President Multichannel at RTL Germany, believes that "Wigald and Eko - The History Hunters 2.0" will give Nitro's target audience a new twist. He stated, "We are excited to bring this unique blend of history and comedy to our viewers, as Wigald and Eko Fresh are ideal to surprise both history and comedy fans with exciting perspectives."
The new episodes will be available on the in-house streamer RTL+, ensuring that viewers can catch up on the action whenever they want. The series is described as a labor of love by Nitro, reflecting their commitment to creating quality entertainment that doesn't always have to be mainstream.

They spoke with eyewitnesses in various locations to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the series. With the new season of "Wigald and Eko - The History Hunters 2.0", Nitro is set to continue pushing boundaries and delivering captivating content.
