In the heart of Nordhorn last week, a significant event took place as former Mayor Dieter Kießling was inscribed into the city's prestigious "Golden Book." Around 40 guests attended the ceremony, which was a highlight of Kießling's visit to the city.

The "Golden Book" of the City of Nordhorn, a historical record that has been in existence for many years, is kept securely and with great care. This traditionally significant gesture serves as a permanent record of notable individuals who have made significant contributions to the city.

Thomas Berling and Achim Haming, two esteemed members of the city, invited Kießling to Nordhorn as a guest of honour, in connection with the Street Culture Festival. The inscription ceremony was witnessed by city officials and was accompanied by the melodious strains of the string quartet from the Nordhorn Music School.

Achim Haming gave an extensive but entertaining laudation during the ceremony, highlighting Kießling's service as Mayor and the enduring impact he had on the city. Kießling, in his speech, thanked for the honour and emphasized the importance of the city partnership between Nordhorn and Reichenbach.

Despite extensive searches, no recent information on the current status of the city partnership between Nordhorn and Reichenbach im Vogtland could be found.

Following the inscription ceremony, Kießling attended the gala of the Street Culture Festival, where he was able to meet his long-standing companion and former Mayor, Meinhard Hüsemann. The inscription in the "Golden Book" of the City of Nordhorn is a testament to Kießling's service as Mayor and a symbolic act marking the end of his mayoral term.
