Monza Grand Prix: Norris Tops Second Free Practice, Piastri Leads Championship

The second free practice session for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza saw a strong performance from Lando Norris, who set the fastest time on the high-speed circuit. The McLaren driver edged out Charles Leclerc by a narrow margin, with the Ferrari driver coming in second.

Norris's performance comes after a recent retirement due to a McLaren defect in Zandvoort. He is pursuing teammate Oscar Piastri in the Formula 1 World Championship standings, with Piastri currently leading the way. As of the second practice session, Piastri leads the championship with 34 points.

Carlos Sainz finished ahead of Piastri in third, slotting in between the two McLaren drivers. Reigning champion Max Verstappen qualified sixth, while Lewis Hamilton finished fifth after topping the first free practice session.

The session was not without incident, as Kimi Antonelli had a difficult time, spinning off the track and getting stuck in the gravel. A crane was required for recovery.

Nico Hülkenberg secured eighth place in the second free practice session, making him the only German driver in the field. Valtteri Bottas, George Russell, Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, Yuki Tsunoda, Mick Schumacher, and Lance Stroll did not have their qualifying positions specified in the session.

The Italian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday at 3:00 PM, with Sky as the broadcaster. The event is being held at Ferrari's home Grand Prix, and all eyes will be on Norris and Piastri as they continue their battle for the championship.
