Northern Trust designates Michael Hunstad as the new leader of its Asset Management division
Northern Trust Appoints Michael Hunstad as President of Asset Management Business
Michael Hunstad, a seasoned professional with a diverse academic background, has been appointed as the new President of Northern Trust's asset management business. Hunstad holds a Ph.D. in mathematics, an MBA in finance, an M.A. in econometrics, and a bachelor's degree in economics.
Hunstad will join Northern Trust's Management Group and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Michael O'Grady. Prior to this appointment, he served as Global Co-Chief Investment Officer at Northern Trust Asset Management. Since joining the company in 2012, he has held various senior leadership roles.
Before joining Northern Trust, Hunstad was head of research at Breakwater Capital and head of quantitative asset allocation at Allstate Investments. His proven track record of driving growth and innovation in the industry makes him an ideal leader for Northern Trust Asset Management.
Daniel Gamba, who led the business for approximately two and a half years, will be stepping down from his role. Hunstad will replace Gamba in the position.
Michael O'Grady, CEO of Northern Trust, expressed his excitement about Hunstad stepping into the role, citing his extensive experience and leadership skills as key factors in his selection. Hunstad currently serves on the Asset Management Executive Group, the Investment Policy Committee, and the Risk Committee at Northern Trust.
