Norwegian Cruise Line, an American cruise line based in Miami, has entered into a significant partnership with Light & Wonder (formerly Scientific Games) to bring progressive table games to its fleet. This partnership was officially announced in October 2016.

The contract involves the installation of 200 GM Atlas systems on 18 Norwegian Cruise Line ships, including the Breakaway. The GM Atlas systems feature progressives for blackjack, let it ride, three-card poker, and ultimate Texas hold'em, aiming to provide guests with a more exciting gaming experience.

Founded in 1966 by Norwegian Knut Kloster and Israeli businessman Ted Arison, Light & Wonder has a rich history in the gaming industry. The company has recently rebranded to its current name, a change that company officials claim represents the work they do every day. In 2021, Light & Wonder sold its sports betting division to Endeavor Group for $1.2 billion and its lottery division to Brookfield Business Partners for $6.1 billion.

Norwegian's Casinos At Sea offer a casino rewards program, with points accrued with every spin of a slot machine and each table game bet. This program allows guests to enjoy their gaming experiences while also earning rewards.

The expansion of gambling in the United States has helped casinos aboard cruise ships regain their footing on most major cruise lines. Norwegian's Casinos At Sea cater to high rollers with bets up to $100 a spin and $5K table game bets, featuring more than 4,800 slot machines supplied by Aristocrat, Everi, and IGT.

Royal Caribbean has also made strides in enhancing its gaming offerings. Its "Jazz on 4" lounges have been transformed into smoke-free gaming parlors, and Casino Royale spaces have been significantly upgraded. Royal Caribbean has also partnered with Bally's on a points scheme.

Carnival, another major player in the cruise industry, has not been left behind. The Crystal Symphony has opened the first Monte-Carlo Casino at sea, and Carnival has made investments to improve its gaming offerings.

Ian Donald, Norwegian's vice president of gaming, stated that they take pride in delivering exciting gaming experiences. Niaz Nejad, managing director of Light & Wonder's Americas business unit, expressed his excitement about collaborating with Norwegian Cruise Line. This partnership is set to bring a new level of excitement to gaming experiences at sea.
