Notable players missing from the Champions League squads: Chiesa, Tel, Gabriel Jesus
In the build-up to the Champions League group stage, several high-profile players find themselves on the sidelines, with their clubs opting to leave them out of the squad or dealing with injuries.
At Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus is not part of the Champions League squad due to his current status as an outcast in the team's attack hierarchy. Meanwhile, across the English Channel, Liverpool has excluded Marc Guehi from their Champions League squad, as he is currently suspended in the Conference League and not expected to play for Liverpool in the Champions League group stage.
Injuries have also played a significant role in the selection process. Jamal Musiala is on Bayern Munich's Champions League squad, but is injured for many more months, making his participation in the competition uncertain.
Chelsea, with their large squad, have removed players like Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling from the official Champions League squad since early August. However, Benoit Badiashile and Marc Guiu have been retained by Enzo Maresca in the Champions League squad at Chelsea.
In Italy, Arkadiusz Milik is not registered by Juventus Turin for the Champions League due to being sidelined for over a year due to frequent physical issues. Dejan Kulusevski is also not on Tottenham's list for the Champions League group stage.
Federico Chiesa is the one who suffers at Liverpool due to being left out of the Champions League squad, while James Maddison is not on Tottenham's Champions League squad either. Thomas Frank has also shown faith in the young Rio Ngumoha at Liverpool, who is on the Champions League squad, despite the absence of Chiesa and Maddison.
The French football club Olympique de Marseille (OM) has submitted a list of players for the Champions League group stage, but is missing five key elements. The new recruit Facundo Buonanotte was originally a target for Olympique Lyonnais, but will not play in the Champions League, as he is now at Chelsea.
Lastly, Presnel Kimpembe is not on Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) list for the Champions League group stage. Lennart Karl is also not in Bayern Munich's Champions League squad.
These squad decisions and injuries could have significant implications for the upcoming Champions League group stage, with teams needing to adjust their strategies and lineups accordingly.
