In the quiet town of Hinsbeck, Germany, an elderly woman narrowly avoided becoming a victim of a roofer scam on Wednesday morning. At around 11:30 AM, a man posing as a businessman rang the woman's door on Büschen street, claiming he needed to inspect her roof.

The man, who was approximately 25 to 30 years old, had full, dark hair, and was wearing a Puma brand polo shirt and blue jeans. He spoke German fluently and had tattooed upper arms. He claimed to have noticed alleged damage to the woman's roof and wanted to inspect it, showing her pictures of supposed defects and estimating the cost of repairs to be around 7,000 euros.

The woman, unaware of the scam, let the man into her house and showed him to the attic. However, the woman's daughter suspected a scam and went to her mother's house. Upon learning of the situation, the daughter called the authorities, and the man did not return, thus no harm was done to the woman.

The incident took place on the street "Büschen" in Hinsbeck, though no further details about the specific location were provided. The Criminal Commissioner 6 can be contacted at 02162/377-0 for any suspicious activities observed in the area around 11:30 AM.

The press office of the Circles Police Department Viersen can be contacted for further inquiries at 02162/377-1191 or [email protected]. The woman's description of the man did not include any information about his eye color or height.

Residents of Hinsbeck are reminded to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to ensure the safety of the community.
