Total Lunar Eclipse Observation Events in Baden-Württemberg on September 7, 2025

Prepare for a celestial spectacle as several cities in Baden-Württemberg, including Stuttgart, Freiburg, and Karlsruhe, will host total lunar eclipse observation events on Monday, September 7, 2025. Here's a roundup of the events and activities planned across the region.

Stuttgart Observatory

The Stuttgart Observatory will open its doors from 20:00 onwards on clear nights for the lunar eclipse observation. If weather conditions don't permit observation, pre-booked alternative programs consisting of presentations on various topics will be offered. Tickets for these programs can be purchased online for 9.00 euros. It's important to note that the Stuttgart Planetarium's Pink Floyd event, featuring "The Dark Side of the Moon" album, is not directly related to the lunar eclipse observation.

Stuttgart Planetarium

For a unique audiovisual experience, the Stuttgart Planetarium will play Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" album in its entirety from 18:00 onwards, combining it with 360-degree projection, star projector, and laser show.

Karlsruhe Observatory

The Astronomical Association Karlsruhe (AVKa) plans to open the Karlsruhe Observatory on the Max-Planck-Gymnasium in Rüppur from 19:00 onwards, but only if the weather permits observations. The AVKa will announce whether the observatory will be open on their website from 18:00 onwards on Sunday.

Schauinsland Rotlache, Breisgau

Outdoor observation of the lunar eclipse will be possible at the Schauinsland Rotlache in Breisgau, although no specific time or details have been provided. Dressing appropriately for cool temperatures is recommended for this mountainous location. The Breisgau stargazers plan to meet at the Rotlache from 19:45 onwards on clear nights for the lunar eclipse. Guests can view the moon's structure with telescopes provided by the Breisgau stargazers.

Aalen Observatory

The Aalen Observatory in Stuttgart will host the lunar eclipse observation from 20:00 to 22:00.

Bodensee Planetarium, Konstanz

In Konstanz, a public evening at the Bodensee Planetarium in Kreuzlingen will be available from 19:00 onwards.

Please note that these events are subject to weather conditions and are often organized locally near observatories or public astronomy groups in these cities. For the latest updates and details, visit the respective event websites or local astronomy groups.
