Ongoing Surveillance in City Centre: Over 200 Individuals Investigated
In a bid to maintain law and order, the Dortmund Police have been actively patrolling the city as part of their "Presence Concept Focus". Over the course of a week, from May 16th to 21st, they conducted extensive checks on 205 individuals and 63 vehicles.
The operation began with a witness tip-off about drug dealing from an apartment. As a result, arrests were made and 15 criminal charges were filed. During the search of the apartment, cash and intoxicants were secured.
The police also carried out several personal checks in the area of the Nordmarkt. On Tuesday, May 20th, a group of people were found dealing with intoxicants at the Helmholtz Gymnasium. In one of these checks, an unauthorized quantity of cannabis was found from a juvenile repeat offender.
On Monday, May 19th, a violation of a spatial restriction was found during a coordinated large-scale check in the area of the northern exit of Dortmund Central Station. Corresponding criminal charges were initiated.
The police also focused their efforts on the city center and northern city center, with a focus on areas such as Bruckstrasse, "Rewe-Basecamp", the courthouse square, and the surroundings of Dortmund harbor on Friday, May 16th. During a traffic check on the same day, a person without a valid driver's license was found.
The operation culminated on Wednesday, May 21st, with four men being arrested in Lünen for dealing in significant quantities of amphetamine. Intoxicants and a low three-digit amount of cash were secured from the group.
The Dortmund Police have been present in the city for several days prior to the events mentioned, and they continue to conduct regular checks to ensure the safety and well-being of the city's residents. However, the available search results do not provide the name of the specific police officer responsible for questions at the Dortmund police. No violations of the knife-carrying ban were found during the checks.
