Amazon Autos and Hyundai Partner for Seamless Online Car Shopping

Amazon Autos, the online automotive retail platform, has partnered with Hyundai Motor Co. to offer customers a convenient way to browse, order, and finance new Hyundai vehicles in 54 U.S. markets. This groundbreaking collaboration marks the first time an automaker has joined forces with Amazon in this capacity.

With this new partnership, customers can now arrange financing, sign paperwork electronically, and complete the purchase of a new Hyundai vehicle with just a few clicks. The platform offers no-haggle, transparent pricing set by Hyundai dealers, eliminating the need for price negotiation.

Shoppers can browse for Hyundai vehicles by specific model, trim, colour, features, and other criteria. Once they've found their desired vehicle, they can read reviews of dealers before deciding on a pickup location. New financing and lease options will be available on the Amazon Autos platform as part of the partnership with Hyundai.

The advertised prices on Amazon Autos are what buyers pay at check-out, with the exception of taxes and fees. Once payment arrangements are finalized, buyers select a date and time to pick up their new Hyundai vehicle at a local dealer.

Since customers pick up their new vehicle from a local Hyundai dealer, there are no violations of franchise laws that prohibit direct-to-consumer sales in some states, unlike Tesla's direct sales restrictions in several states.

The official launch of the retail partnership was announced in November 2023, and Hyundai's U.S. dealers see it as an opportunity to reach more customers via Amazon. The 54 markets where the partnership is available account for 71% of Hyundai's U.S. sales volumes.

Currently, only Hyundai dealers in Los Angeles are participating in the collaboration with Amazon Autos as sellers of Hyundai vehicles, with a gradual expansion to additional cities and dealerships in the United States planned for the future. Additional dealer participation and functionalities will continue to roll out throughout the year.

Hyundai is kicking off its partnership with Amazon Autos with a nationwide marketing campaign highlighting the convenience of online car shopping. Additionally, Amazon Autos offers online trade-in options, where trade-in values are provided by an independent third-party, which can be applied toward the purchase.

As the year progresses, more locations for the Amazon Autos platform will be added, making online car shopping with Hyundai more accessible to customers across the country.
