Ontario's gaming regulatory body selects a new head
iGaming Ontario, the gambling regulator in Ontario, has announced the appointment of Joseph Hillier as its President and Chief Executive Officer. The new appointment will be effective from 8 September.
Joseph Hillier brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having worked extensively with iGaming Ontario in the past. His background in government and regulatory roles has been instrumental in the establishment and growth of Canada's first private-sector igaming market.
Before joining iGaming Ontario, Hillier served as Chief Strategy Officer and Corporate Secretary at the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Prior to that, he worked as Chief of Staff to Ontario Attorney General Doug Downey.
Hillier has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation before his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer of iGaming Ontario. His experience in the creation and establishment of igaming markets, as well as his expertise in regulatory initiatives related to the sector, make him an ideal fit for the role.
One of Hillier's most notable achievements was his central role in establishing Canada's first private-sector igaming market. At the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, he oversaw regulatory initiatives across the alcohol, cannabis, gaming, and horse racing sectors.
It's important to note that the new CEO of iGaming Ontario is not associated with COMPLETE iGAMING. The previous CEO of COMPLETE iGAMING, Steve (Ziv) Chen, is no longer the CEO of iGaming Ontario. The appointed CEO, Joseph Hillier, is not the same person as the previous CEO of COMPLETE iGAMING.
The appointment of Joseph Hillier by iGaming Ontario marks a significant step forward for the regulator as it continues to shape and grow the igaming sector in Ontario. Hillier has been involved in the launch of the igaming sector in Ontario and his expertise and leadership will undoubtedly be key in driving the sector's continued success.
In conclusion, the appointment of Joseph Hillier as the CEO of iGaming Ontario is a strategic move that will help the regulator to further develop and regulate the igaming sector in Ontario. His extensive experience and expertise in the sector make him an ideal choice for the role. The industry eagerly awaits the impact of Hillier's leadership on the future of igaming in Ontario.
