Opening night of the new theater season at Heinz-Hilpert Theater
On September 21, 2025, the Cultural Office of Lünen, in collaboration with the Theater Lünen Support Association, the Senior Advisory Boards of Lünen and Selm, is hosting the first Theater Meetup before the premiere of Peter Shaffer's "Black Comedy - Comedy in the Dark" at the Heinz-Hilpert-Theater.
This event offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage in an open exchange and break down barriers, fostering a relaxed atmosphere with coffee and cake in the Lünen Hansesaal. The box office opens one hour before the start of the event, and tickets can be purchased online via the Cultural Office's web shop. Single tickets for the play cost between 15 to 26 €, with reduced tickets available for 7.50 to 13 €.
The play features situational comedy, chaos, and shameless surprises, as the protagonist, Brindsley, a young, struggling artist, prepares for a visit from a wealthy Russian art collector. Brindsley borrows furniture from his neighbour Harold, but a power outage causes chaos, involving characters such as his fiancée Carol, his unregistered ex-girlfriend Clea, Miss Furnival (Harold's neighbour who has had a few too many), Harold himself, a technician, Carol's father, and the art collector.
Representatives from the Senior Advisory Board and the Cultural Office will be present to provide information about the schedule and the performance. Additionally, participating artists may be present to introduce themselves and answer questions about the play.
