Operating Automobiles Under Inebriation: A Look at Impaired Driving

On Sunday, 30th August 2025, a 37-year-old man from Hannover was arrested by the Hildesheim Police Department for driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred on the A7 highway from Hannover towards Hildesheim, with the car being stopped near Algermissen.

According to the preliminary breath test, the driver had a reading of 1.9 per thousand, indicating heavy intoxication. Subsequently, a blood sample was taken, and his license was confiscated.

The erratic driving of an older gray Ford Fiesta with a Hannover license plate had been observed on the A7 highway as early as August 25. Near Harsum, the driver crossed the center line, forcing an oncoming car to swerve to avoid a collision.

Witnesses who have information about the driver's behavior, especially those who had to swerve to avoid a collision, are still asked to contact the police in Sarstedt. The Police Station Sarstedt can be reached at 05066-985115. It is a part of the Police Inspectorate Hildesheim, and further questions can be directed to them via their website at http://www.pd-goe.polizei-nds.de/dienststellen/pi_hildesheim/.

After being stopped, the car exited in Hildesheim-Drispenstedt and continued on the B494 towards Peine. The driver's name has not been released at this time.

The Police Inspectorate Hildesheim encourages all road users to drive responsibly and to always prioritise safety on the roads.
