In the heart of Munich, climate activists took a stand against the IAA Mobility car show on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, approximately a dozen activists entered Munich Town Hall to demonstrate.

The activists made their presence known on the second floor of the Town Hall, where the Climate Council was meeting. They stood in front of the meeting rooms, holding banners and chanting slogans such as "Protecting the climate is not difficult, free public transport." Some even hung up posters to further emphasize their message.

The protests were organized by groups including the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club) and other organizations advocating for traffic transformation. On Tuesday afternoon, the Munich Nature Conservation Association (BN) held a demonstration at Odeonsplatz, adding to the growing momentum against the IAA Mobility car show.

However, the demonstrations posed a challenge for the officers, as it was difficult for them to distinguish between activists and regular visitors. The town hall's security personnel intervened, but the protesters were not deterred.

The activists' goal is clear: to prevent the IAA Mobility car show from taking place in Munich or on public spaces in the city center in the future. On Wednesday, around 50 participants gathered to protest once more, with some wearing yellow vests to identify themselves as activists.

Despite the presence of around 40 police officers in the entrance area, the protest on Wednesday morning resulted in no major incidents. The demonstrators were eventually escorted out of the building by the officers.

The continuation of IAA Mobility will be discussed in the city council on Wednesday. As the debate unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the activists' efforts will bear fruit in their mission to promote climate protection in Munich.
