Over 14,000 vehicles from AutoVAZ are being called back - details on the situation unfolding
The Russian car manufacturer AVTOVAZ has announced a recall of over 14,000 Lada Travel vehicles due to an issue with the emergency call system. The recall is being reported by the TASS news agency.
The recall affects Lada Travel vehicles only and specifically those that were sold from October 2021 to November 2023. This means that vehicles sold before October 2021 or after November 2023 are not included in the recall. A total of 14,024 vehicles with specific VIN codes are to be modified.
The main reason for the recall is the absence of a control unit necessary for emergency service calls. This issue has been identified and AVTOVAZ will be responsible for the necessary modifications to rectify the problem.
Owners of Lada Travel vehicles can independently check if their vehicle is affected by the recall. They can do this by matching their vehicle's VIN code with the published list on the Rosstandart website. If their vehicle is included in the list, they should contact AVTOVAZ for further instructions.
AVTOVAZ has stated that they will notify owners about the need to visit a dealer for the necessary modifications. All installation work required due to the recall will be done free of charge.
Rosstandart has noted that all vehicles will be equipped with this unit in the future to ensure the safety and functionality of the emergency call system.
Owners of a Lada Travel who acquired the vehicle between December 2021 and August 2022 are affected by the AVTOVAZ replacement program. They are advised to follow the instructions provided by AVTOVAZ to ensure their vehicle's emergency call system is functioning correctly.
It is important for owners to take the necessary steps to address this issue to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road. For more information, owners should contact AVTOVAZ directly or visit the Rosstandart website.
