Over 40 charitable organizations presenting volunteer positions on September 13th.
The second-annual Community Volunteer Fair is set to take place on Saturday, September 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. Hosted by Volunteer Alexandria and JustServe, this free, family-friendly event will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2810 King Street.
A wide array of local nonprofits will participate in the fair, offering attendees the opportunity to learn about various volunteer opportunities and the services these organisations provide. Among the participating nonprofits are Alexandria City Animal Shelter, Historic Alexandria, Alexandria Mentoring Partnership, Wright to Read, Carpenter's Shelter, Alexandria Tutoring Consortium, Resource Center for a Better Life, Cornerstone Craftsman, Friends of the Beatley Library, Child and Family Network Center, Alexandria Seaport Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, ALIVE!, The Red Cross, Goodwin House, Casa Chirilagua, Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, Washington Street United Methodist Church, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, True Ground Housing Partners, UNCUT Youth, Food Rescue US, Alexandria Medical Reserve Corp, AWLA Book Buddies, LSSNCA, Women for Afghan Women, Campagna Center, Reach for the Stars, Alexandria City Public Schools, Volunteer Alexandria, Sages and Seekers, Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria, Grace Episcopal Church, Friends of the Burke Library, Hunger Free Alexandria, Christ Church, Senior Services of Alexandria, JustServe, At Home in Alexandria, United Community, Cake4Kids, and Virginia Cooperative Extension, Alexandria 4-H.
According to Amy Barker, the JustServe Director for Alexandria and organizer of the event, the volunteer fair is a great opportunity to connect with the Alexandria community and find a volunteer opportunity that resonates with each individual. Barker hopes that everyone will find a meaningful way to give back and make a positive impact in Alexandria through this event.
