After a prolonged period of uncertainty, the Royal Household Bureau has issued an update on the health of Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn from his first marriage.

Since collapsing while training her dogs in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima in December 2022, the princess has been in a coma at the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok. The princess, who is 46 years old, has been a prominent figure in the king's inner circle for years and has served as Thailand's ambassador to Austria from 2012 to 2014. She also holds a doctorate in law and worked at the United Nations in New York.

Since August 9, 2023, the princess has been receiving medical support for her heart, lung, and kidney functions. She has been suffering from a severe blood infection, for which doctors have been administering antibiotics to control. The condition of the princess seems to have stabilized, and her blood pressure has stabilized despite the withdrawal of blood pressure medication, according to the statement from the royal household bureau.

This is the sixth update on Princess Bha's health since her collapse. Little was known about her exact condition for a long time, but the overall condition of Princess Bajrakitiyabha has improved following complications from the blood infection.

It is important to note that the king has not yet named an official heir. This fact, while new, does not change the fact that Princess Bajrakitiyabha has been a significant member of the royal family for many years.

The princess has been unconscious in a Bangkok hospital for two and a half years, and the people of Thailand continue to hope for her recovery.
