Pastor Thiemann bids farewell to Spaichingen, relinquishing a piano and preparing boxes for books
Pastor Johannes Thiemann Moves to Saarbrücken, Leaving 17-Year Tenure in Spaichingen
After 17 years of dedicated service, Pastor Johannes Thiemann is set to leave Spaichingen and move near Saarbrücken, where his wife Claudia, a retired psychosomatics specialist, will reunite with her family. The couple met at a spa and has been together for many years.
Thiemann's guiding principle is deeply rooted in Psalm 103 and a church hymn about trusting new paths, which he has applied throughout his career. He has held various functions, including school pastor, deanery office, and other roles in church administration. Thiemann was even adopted as the "year group pastor" by his congregation, a testament to his strong bond with the community.
Thiemann has been instrumental in working with seniors and children, in school, and in various circles and functions. He has not shied away from the church's structural changes, instead viewing them as opportunities for growth and renewal. However, he does not support the argument of those who leave the church to save the church tax but not the faith.
In Spaichingen, Thiemann was drawn to the open community and church council. He will miss the town dearly, but he is looking forward to having more time for his hobbies, particularly carpentry work, in his new neighborhood.
As for his departure, a moving truck will arrive for Thiemann on September 29th. Before that, he and his wife will celebrate their diamond wedding on September 21st. To make visiting his children easier, Thiemann has purchased a camper van.
Claudia Thiemann is returning home near Saarbrücken, where her two children also reside. Thiemann, however, is leaving his profession, which he pursued with passion. Despite this, he is not planning to become a typical boomer couple traveling around in retirement.
