Two Children Drown in Port Dickson Incident

In a tragic turn of events, a Nissan car slipped into Sungai Linggi in Tanjung Agas, Port Dickson, on September 4, resulting in the drowning of two children, aged six and eight, who were inside.

The incident was first reported at 11:45 am, and since then, the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS) has been conducting checks to verify the religious status of the children. As of now, no records of their conversion to Islam have been found in either Kelantan or Negeri Sembilan.

Mohd Asri Abdullah, the director of JHEAINS, stated that they are relying on the confirmation of the biological parents regarding the children's religious status. However, the father of the children, whose name is not publicly available, informed JHEAINS that the conversion was done in Kelantan, but no record was found.

In a recent development, the father and his 41-year-old girlfriend have been remanded for seven days in connection with the children's deaths. The remand of the individuals was confirmed yesterday.

In a statement made to Bernama today, Mohd Asri Abdullah also mentioned that the parents need to make a police report about the children's religious status for authorization of the burial. The children's burial will be managed by JHEAINS once their religious status is confirmed.

Tragically, no family members or next of kin were present during the victims' post-mortem procedures at Port Dickson Hospital. The incident has left the community in shock, and JHEAINS is working diligently to resolve the matter and provide closure to the families involved.

The authorities are also investigating the incident under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and the remanded individuals are aiding the investigation. Our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time.

This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
