Perpetrator unveils initial collection
In the 2022 US Open, the spotlight was on the young Italian tennis star, Jannik Sinner, as he took on Canada's Denis Shapovalov in the third round.
The match started promisingly for Shapovalov, who raced to a 3-0 lead and even held a break point in the third set. However, Sinner showcased his resilience, winning nine consecutive games to turn the tables and secure a 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 victory.
This was Sinner's first set loss in the tournament but he proved that he could handle pressure, demonstrating his mettle against a formidable opponent.
Meanwhile, in the women's draw, Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam champion, eliminated Daria Kasatkina with a hard-fought victory of 6-0, 4-6, 6-3. Osaka's opponent for the next round has yet to be determined.
Elsewhere, Coco Gauff (USA-3) continued her impressive form, defeating Magdalena Frech (POL-28) 6-3, 6-1.
In the doubles round of 64, Lucas Miedler and Francisco Cabral secured a 7-6(6), 6-4 victory over Nicolas Barrientos and Nathaniel Lammons, advancing to the second round.
Jannik Sinner's next opponent in the US Open will be either Tommy Paul or Alexander Bublik. Bublik is the only player besides world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz to have beaten Sinner this season.
Sinner's performance against Shapovalov was a testament to his growing prowess on the court. The young Italian has only lost four of his 38 matches this year, making him a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.
Denis Shapovalov, on the other hand, dropped a set in his match against Sinner but still lost. It was a disappointing end to what had been a promising start for the Canadian player.
As the US Open continues, the focus remains on the exciting matches and the rising stars making their mark on the tournament.
