Phil Ruffin's fresh Kansas casino, Gilley's, announces its official opening date
The Wichita Greyhound Park, a well-known location in the city, is set to undergo a significant transformation as it prepares to become Gilley's Casino. Owned by businessman Phil Ruffin, the new casino is scheduled to open its doors on Dec. 15.
The casino will be located at 77th and Hydraulic, the former site of the Greyhound Park. It will boast approximately 1,000 historical horse racing machines, providing an exciting gaming experience for visitors.
In addition to the casino, the Gilley's experience will also include Gilley's Saloon & Dance Hall, an arcade, a sports bar, and a concession area. The outdoor venue, situated behind the casino building, is designed to accommodate music festivals, rodeos, and even pickleball tournaments, with 10 courts available.
The outdoor venue is not the only new addition to the site. The new Park City Casino and entertainment complex, previously known as Golden Circle, is now named Gilley's, reflecting the expansion of Ruffin's facilities. The development is being managed by Chris Strunk.
The inspiration for the Gilley's casino development comes from a personal friendship with Mickey Gilley, the country music singer and co-founder of the original Gilley's in Pasadena, Texas. The new location, though unspecified, will bring the Gilley's casino experience to a new audience.
As the opening date approaches, excitement is building in Wichita for the new casino and entertainment complex. With its combination of gaming, dining, and entertainment options, Gilley's is poised to become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
