In a thrilling finish, Jasper Philipsen, a 27-year-old cyclist from Belgium, claimed victory in the 163.5km stage at the 80th Vuelta, a prestigious Spanish cycling tour. The stage was a mass sprint, with Elia Viviani and Ethan Vernon finishing second and third respectively.
However, the joy was short-lived for Philipsen as he suffered a setback post-race. A crash during the stage resulted in a broken collarbone and a rib fracture for the cycling star. Despite this, he managed to hold on to the win.

The Portuguese rider Joao Almeida is currently third in the general classification, 2:41 minutes behind Traeen. Arne Marit, who finished outside the top 100 in the eighth stage, moved up to third place as a result.
