Pizza-enthusiastic Scots embark on a trans-Pacific rowboat voyage.

In an extraordinary feat of endurance and determination, the Maclean brothers - Jamie, Ewan, and Lachlan - have completed a record-breaking rowboat journey from Peru to Cairns, Australia. The brothers covered nearly 9,000 miles (14,484 km) in a remarkable 139 days, smashing the previous record set by Russian Fedor Konyukhov in 2014.

The brothers' custom-made carbon fiber boat, named "Rose Emily", was equipped with half a ton of food and set off on their journey with the aim of raising funds for water projects. The Maclean brothers' athletic performance and the amount of land they raised through donations were supported by an unnamed organisation.

The journey was not without its challenges. As Jamie Maclean described to the PA news agency, it was "the most incredible, relentless, and often surreal experience of [his] life." Ewan Maclean echoed this sentiment, admitting that there were times when they cried from sadness and fear during the journey. However, the brothers' resolve was strengthened by the support of people behind them.

As they neared the end of their journey, the Maclean brothers had to push harder to finish before their supplies ran out. The brothers' achievement was celebrated with family members who had travelled to meet them upon their arrival in Cairns, Australia on Saturday.

Upon completing the journey, Jamie Maclean expressed a desire for a pizza, a simple pleasure that must have tasted even sweeter after such an incredible feat. The Maclean brothers' rowboat journey has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all who followed their journey, and their efforts to raise funds for water projects continue to inspire. The Maclean Foundation aims to raise one million pounds from the rowboat journey, a goal that seems more achievable than ever after their remarkable achievement.
