Planned new winter route: Flight between Vladivostok and Bangkok will commence operation
Vladivostok, Russia, is gearing up for a significant shift in its air travel landscape. Khabarovsk Airport is preparing to bypass Vladivostok's air hub, marking a new chapter in the region's aviation history.
Currently, flights on several key routes are operated by established players such as Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Air China, China Southern Airlines, and Chengdu Airlines. S7 Airlines has announced the resumption of regular flights from Vladivostok to Bangkok, Thailand, starting from December 19, and will operate flights on Boeing-737-800 aircraft twice a week.
Moreover, Air China has increased the frequency of flights to Beijing from Vladivostok, offering 21 departures a week. These flights will provide connections in Vladivostok with S7 Airlines flights to Yakutsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
In a move to boost the Thai tourism industry and provide foreigners with convenient payment options, the Thai government has announced the launch of the TouristDigipay program. This program, set to begin in a pilot phase at the end of 2025, will allow foreign tourists to convert digital assets into baht (national currency). The maximum limit for this conversion stands at 550,000 baht.
Meanwhile, Vladivostok is also witnessing increased connectivity with several Chinese cities. Chinese Airlines has started flights between Shanghai and Vladivostok, and Uzbek Airline has launched services between Samarkand and Vladivostok. Additionally, another airline has begun flights between Harbin and Vladivostok.
Simultaneously, Vladivostok is strengthening its connections with other Russian cities as well. Yakutia Airlines has started flights from Vladivostok to Yantai, and Chengdu Airlines has initiated flights from Vladivostok to Shenyang, with a flight duration of 7 hours and 25 minutes.
As air travel expands, it's essential to ensure that airports are prepared for potential delays. While the name of the minister who stated that airports have already made preparations to possibly accommodate flight delays remains unspecified, it's clear that efforts are being made to ensure smooth operations.
This influx of new routes and increased frequency of flights is set to make Vladivostok a hub for travel between Russia, China, and Thailand, offering a wealth of opportunities for both tourists and businesses alike.
