Police apprehended an individual twice in a three-hour span for traffic violations, disregarding a previous driving restriction.

In the quiet town of Siegburg, a traffic accident on Wilhelmstraße caused quite a stir on August 26 at around 09:55 AM. A 77-year-old man, while reversing his Toyota in a parking garage, inadvertently damaged a parked Ford. Instead of stopping to exchange information, the senior fled the scene.

Two witnesses approached the man and informed him of the damage, but he left without a word. The concerned witnesses, however, took note of the license plate number of the fleeing driver and reported the incident to the police.

The Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters swiftly took action, transmitting the information via news aktuell. The man was later found at his Siegburg residence. Despite having his driver's license confiscated by the police for his actions, the man was observed driving again on Wilhelmstraße about three hours later.

This reckless behaviour has led to the man facing charges not only for hit-and-run but also for driving without a license. The estimated damage to the parked Ford is over 5,000 euros.

For any inquiries or updates regarding this incident, the Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters can be reached by phone at 02241/541-2222 or emails can be sent to [email protected]. The police have emphasised the importance of responsible driving and adhering to traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
