Police confirm success of Christopher Street Day event

Erfurt, Germany - Thousands of participants gathered in the city centre today for the annual Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebrations, marking a colourful and lively event in the heart of the city. Approximately 2,500 people took part in the festivities, which began at 2:00 PM from the Domplatz and wound through the city centre.

The CSD, a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and rights, saw a second assembly commence at Willy-Brandt-Platz at 12:40 PM, joining the main parade on the Domplatz. The event concluded around 5:00 PM, with the CSD returning to the Domplatz for a citizen's festival that lasted until 7:00 PM.

The police, supported by forces from the Thuringian riot police, accompanied the assemblies with a deployment to ensure a peaceful and trouble-free course of events. Despite the large crowd, the police can look back on a successful day, with only one administrative offense procedure initiated due to the illegal burning of pyrotechnics during the assemblies.

Regrettably, the transport disruptions caused by the assemblies resulted in delays and inconvenience for many passengers. Specific areas affected included Willy-Brandt-Platz, Bahnhofstraße, the Anger, and the Juri-Gagarin-Ring.

For further questions regarding the CSD or other matters related to the Thuringian PoliceState Police Inspectorate Erfurt, please contact them at 0361 5743-2100 or [email protected]. It is currently unclear who the head of the Police State Commissariat Erfurt was during the CSD in Erfurt on the specified date.

Overall, the Christopher Street Day in Erfurt was a vibrant and celebratory event, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate diversity and unity. The peaceful and trouble-free nature of the event was a testament to the successful collaboration between the organisers, participants, and the police.
