The Unna Police Department carried out a district-wide traffic check on Thursday, August 20, 2025, from 06:00 to 14:00. The aim was to combat speeding and distraction from mobile phones.

During the checks, a road user in Selm was caught driving at 83 km/h in a 50 km/h zone outside built-up areas. As a result, the individual faced a fine of 150 euros and one point in Flensburg. However, the identity of the person arrested was not publicly disclosed.

In another incident, a car with stolen license plates was discovered at a checkpoint in Schwerte. This led to an immediate pursuit, but the unknown driver could not be apprehended. The Unna Police Department maintains a firm stance against reckless driving, including speeding and consumption of alcohol/drugs.
