Police Station Celle Offers Self-Defense Courses to Empower Women

In response to the rising incidents of violence, inappropriate remarks, and derogatory comments against women in the city and district of Celle, the prevention team at the police station Celle has announced five self-defense courses for women this autumn and winter.

The courses, which will take place at Jägerstraße 1 in Celle, aim to help women deal with fear and reduce panic moments in potentially dangerous situations. Christian Riebandt, head of the prevention team, emphasizes the importance of resistance in such situations.

Each course consists of four evenings and will focus on teaching participants strategies to protect and defend themselves. The courses, starting from 30th October 2025, will be held on various days of the week to accommodate different schedules.

  • Course 1: 30.10.2025 to 3 consecutive Thursdays
  • Course 2: 19.11.2025 to 3 consecutive Wednesdays
  • Course 3: 07.01.2026 to 3 consecutive Wednesdays
  • Course 4: 29.01.2026 to 3 consecutive Thursdays
  • Course 5: 18.02.2026 to 3 consecutive Wednesdays

Gaining or regaining self-confidence is essential for effective resistance, but can be challenging for many women. The courses will not only focus on physical self-defense strategies but also on raising one's voice and setting clear boundaries.

Many women feel helpless in these situations, but investigations show that they can often successfully defend themselves. The self-defense course offered by the police station Celle aims to equip women with the knowledge and skills to do so.

Interested participants can register via email at [email protected]. For further questions, contact Police Station Celle at [email protected] or Kathrin Hilgert at 05141-277104. A flat rate of 25 euros is charged, to be paid at the beginning of the course.

Women in Celle have experienced cases of sexual touching, verbal harassment, and physical attacks. These self-defense courses are an initiative to empower women and provide them with the tools to protect themselves in such situations.
